*** Special 200th Birth-year Presentation of Edgar Allan Poe, US Author. ***
WHangelic Master Poets, @ the masterpoets.com, will be presenting selected works of Edgar Allan Poe on his 200th birth-year (2009). Costume and set are included in the presentation of the show.
These Poetical and short story performances are theatrical productions, not ramatic reading, and are, therefore, from memory, as complete and individual pieces, interspersed with biographical / socio-political / cultural information, involving the author's life and times in American history.
The Performance includes the Following Poems / Short Stories:
Poems: "The Bells", "Lenore", "The Raven". Short Stories: "The Tell-Tale Heart" and "The Cask of Amontillado".
WHangelic Master (WHAM) Poets is in its 6th year of uninterrupted shows. Past performances have featured the poetry of William Butler Yeats, William Shakespeare, Walt Witman, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and, the most celebrated (and requested) Edgar Allan Poe. Other thematic poetry shows have included a broad spectrum of timeless, classical, and eclectic ptry, related to Seasonal (winter) poetry, as well as those lyricists associated with the poetry of Romantic Love.
These performances are diferent from standard readings because WHAM Poets research in depth their authors and historical times, providing such information in an entertainment venue, with the dramatic acting of their works.
Angela H., the producer / agent / researcher / art director / playwright / psychotherapist / actress, contributes complementary information, during each show of often little known facts of the author's life and profound works, to further connect the audience to the "whole picture". While Timothy Ross Whelan, poet, author, and chiropractor, brings these great, selected works "to life", in his dramatic portrayal of the Master Poet(s). Thus, WHAM Poets shares with the audience a new form of theatrical performance - deeply connecting entertainment - that which is more directly enriching and educational.
The performances will be held on October 21, at 7:00 PM, at Russell Library in Middleton, CT. 06457.
***Due to the genesponsorship / endowment of the Russell Library, admission is free. However, due to limited seating, reservations may be required.***
